mission is to promote exchanges between academic research and operational
applications through applied research projects on environmental protection,
cultural and human heritage, natural resilience to climate change and
improvement of environment quality, in France and abroad.

In 2009, the Libertas Institute launched theUrbanProtected Areas Network Program. In this capacity, Libertas manages, with the scientific
coordinator, the research program on the
“Urban National Parks in Emerging Countries/UNPEC” (2012-2015), funded by the French NationalResearch Agency (ANR). On behalf of theUPANetwork,Libertas Institute has organizedtheBiodiverCities Conferences
cycle, which aimsto promote dialoguebetween managersof cities andnatural areas andthe scientific community. The Libertas Institute and theUrbanProtected Areas Network are partnersof the WCPA IUCN Urban SpecialistGroup.
